"Go and stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this Life." Acts 5:20

There seems to be a theme in the BIble of going and speaking God's Word. I don't know why so many professing Christians fight this command.

We did just this this past weekend. I am sorry I have not been able to update you until now. I have a little under the weather. Standing in the cold for hours tends to do that to you. Mom always told us not to go out in the cold for so long, but she did not count on the open air preacher. What is he supposed to do?

Ben, Bobby, and I witnessed at the Alice in Chains concert Friday night at the Tabernacle. As the people were lined up, we preached the gospel. Many of them did not want to hear it so when we were finished preaching the whole gospel we went down the line of people giving them tracts. To my surprise, even though they were unhappy with the preaching, they took the tracts.

One guy looked at my sign and said "God doesn't exist." I asked him if he was sure. He said he was pretty sure. Then he said there was a better chance of God not being real than the other way around. I told him he had more like a 50/50 chance either way. The guy behind him said he would go to Vegas on those odds. "Yeah, but you are gambling with your life on those odds," I said. The first guy then took a tract from me.

As Bobby and I were waiting in the parking lot for Ben one couple came up to us and started reading one of the signs we had. The girl seemed to show good responses to the Truth and it seemed like she was saved, but the guy was questioning Truth altogether. We spent much time trying to convince him that the Bible is the only Truth among all professing truths. He then tried to say he believed in Jesus, but if other people wanted to believe other things, he thought that was okay too. We eventually showed him Matthew 7 and asked if it was possible he might be one who stands before Christ and says, 'Lord, Lord,' and He says to him, 'Depart from Me.' He said it was possible that could be him. It got to the point that Bobby, myself, and even the girl that was his friend was pleading with him to consider what he was saying, that there was a chance he may be going to hell if he dies. He took One Heartbeat Away and they were very thanful to us for speaking to them.

Next we drove out to Athens to witness to the drunkards and college students.

One lady came and listened to Bobby as he read Scripture. I handed her a tract and she wanted to know what church we were from. I told her we were there to give the gospel. I then began to question her on her life. She broke down in tears and admitted to living with a guy who was now an alcoholic and beating her. She was living there with her son. She said she knew she had done wrong and wanted to live for Jesus if she could just get out of the living situation. She gave me her number and I told her I would try to find a place where she could stay. Today I contacted the Peace Place and they may let her come stay there. She is supposed to call them. Pray that this situation works out to glorify Christ.

We did not get to Athens until after 10pm and I did not get into bed until about 1am. Then I was up the next day to spend the day in Atlanta. I was with Chris Galloway, Scott Autry, Jasper Williams, Jeff Suricki, and others all day for the Atlanta Outreach and then we went over to the GA Dome to proclaim Christ to the thousands at the Supercross. Eddie Jones joined us to proclaim Christ. There are pictures and video on the homepage. We were there from 10am-8pm in the cold. So it should not be a surprise that I ended up pretty sick. But I am feeling better now and glad to be able to update you all on what happened.

I would like to share one other thing from today as I was at Collins Hill High School. The administration came out and tried to get rid of me. It was even worse that the main guy was a professing Christian who goes to a very well known church in Snellville. Even after the policeman said we were okay and would not be arrested (Praise the Lord) this professing Christian continued to argue with the officer telling him we should not be able to "solicit" our tracts.

This is even worse. One of the administrators was saying that everything done at the school is approved and if we wanted to do what we were doing we would have to get it approved by the school. It was then brought up that the school is teaching the lies of evolution to the school and at least we are just trying to do something good and give the kids the Truth. The administrator then said, "Well that is approved curriculum by the school and the parents." Can you believe what he is saying? There is so much truth to that.

Listen very carefully, Christian parents. If your kids are in public schools (even some Christian schools) then you are approving of the curriculum they are teaching whether explicitly or implicitly. You may be teaching them the right things at home, but there is no way to combat the eight hours of humanistic teaching they are getting from this wicked curriculum. And I know firsthand being a former school teacher and I am still regularly involved in the public schools. The lies and humanistic teaching are in everything. Come out from it all! If your kids are doing well regardless I can only say it is the Lord's mercy.

Well, I know satan is not happy, but I am filled with joy!

The public schools are closed to really any kind of saving Truth of the Lord Jesus Christ. But I found a loophole. This new campaign I have started is really turning into something spectacular, even more so than I imagined.

The high schools in particular are great because I found some public sidewalks where the students dismiss to go the busses and they pass right in front of me. They hear all of the preaching, they get tracts, they see the sign. I even get to dialogue with them a little. Praise the Lord. On top of this, all of the bus drivers hear the preaching and see the sign. Also parents driving to and from the schools see the sign and hear some of the preaching. And the passing traffic is sometimes stopped by hired cops and they get to hear Truth and see the sign as well.

This is better than anything I could ever have hoped for. It just shows that God wants us to take those small steps of obedience and He will take care of the rest.

I know how angry satan is. As I was preaching at a middle school the other day, an enraged parent who was leaving the school began blowing her horn fiercly and flipping me the bird emphatically with both hands. What a reaction she had to seeing Truth get its way into the schools. Satan thought he had everything covered, but God is so much wiser than men. And nothing is more important than just the good old-fashioned pure unadulterated preaching of the gospel.

The kids are beginning to recognize me and become familiar with me. They are looking out of the busses and waving. They listen to the preaching and look at the sign. I pray that they will visit the site and get more Truth. Also, a few people have stopped in the cars and taken tracts asking what church I am from. I have received many waves of encouragement and many "God Bless You"s.

I am very excited to see how this campaign grows. Sometimes it is difficult to hold the sign in the wind and preach and pass out tracts. If any of you are ever available during the week and want to join me please let me know. The high schools let out around 2 so I am usually out there around 2ish-2:45ish. Then I hit a middle school from 3:50ish-4:30ish. I would love to have some people with me. Saki went with me today and held the sign. He was also able to snap the photos for me. We as Christians should take a stand against the lies that are being taught in these schools by reaching out to these youth.

NBA Allstar 2010

For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ. 2 Corinthians 2:15-17

Amen!

Many people claim the sufficiency of God's Word, yet so few really believe it is sufficient to convert the soul. Too many times we depend on our own wisdom, our own cleverness, our own flesh. But the Word of God is sufficient to claim a man's life.

since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God 1 Peter 1:23

We spend too much time planning programs, studying apologetics, going to seminary, building relationships, etc., etc., etc...rather than just going into this world, opening a Bible, and trusting in the sufficiency of God's Word.

I am sure you have a friend, or maybe you are that friend, who has said that this street evangelism is just not your gifting or calling. But why would you say such a thing? I cannot conclude your excuses are at all spiritual. I would have to say any reason you could possibly give for not doing street evangelism would have to be carnal.

Do you not have time? Did you have time to go to the game? Did you have time to watch TV? Did you have time to rest comfortably with your nose in a good Christian book?

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16

Are you afraid? There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18a

Do you not know what to say? Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13 Have you been with Jesus?

No, I would have to conclude that your reasons are carnal. Why not give it a chance? We need good open air preachers. There are not enough. There are not enough people willing to go to the streets to pass out tracts and start conversations. Too many think it is not their calling. We need some strong men to lift their banners and signs for the Lord. Will you not even give it a chance? Have you even gone enough times to make a judgment? Maybe you lack the practice, not the calling.

Stop making excuses and go! Stop trying to use other methods than what the Lord ordained. Go and proclaim the gospel to all of creation. Your haphazard attempts of building relationships at work are not working nor is it enough.

Also, I must speak to the person who thinks he can just leave his Christ at home. How are you able to do such a thing? Is Christ in you or is He in your pocket? Is He like your car keys that can be conveniently left on the table? If your boss has asked you to do this, how can you honor this request?

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17

For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8:29

How can you be crucified with Christ, risen to newness of life, a brother of Christ, a new spiritually alive being, and yet turn it off like a lightswitch? How can you claim to be a spiritual being if you are consumed with carnal activity for 8-10 hours each work day?

Stop making excuses and go! Go and proclaim the gospel to all of creation.

We had a wonderful time proclaiming the gospel with our fellow laborers in Dallas. Tim Crawford, Tom Sadowski, Ron Martinez, and Rich Edmond's brother Randy were only a few of the saints who joined us in proclaiming the gospel to the masses. Bill, Chap, and I went up to Dallas and brought the life-giving Word for three straight days at the events surrounding the allstar game. Pictures and video are on the homepage.

Tim and I were walking around the arena on Saturday night when Daniel approached us and asked about my sign. This led to a lengthy conversation where Tim was able to share the gospel with him. We left him with a Bible, which he did not have, and a copy of One Heartbeat Away. He at first did not see the difference between the Christian God and allah. He had not really read the Bible, but thanked us for the gift and said he would read it. Pray that God convicts this young man of his sin and brings him to repentance.

Tim Crawford also got to preach the gospel to many as they were entering the event. Praise the Lord, many heard several minutes of what Tim preached.

Superbowl XLIV Outreach

"Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins. Isaiah 58:1

The report I have to give on Superbowl Outreach 2010 could not be better. I thank you all for the prayer. That really seemed to make the difference. Everything went so smoothly and I know the Holy Spirit was with us on that trip.

We spent the first couple of days down at Miami Beach. It got pretty crazy as the evenings progressed with one lady even throwing beer on me, but we had so many divine encounters. We blanketed the area with gospel tracts and open air preaching. It was amazing to see such boldness for the Lord Jesus Christ.

The signs and t-shirts drew people in for conversations. We even had a cross that was a perfect fishing rod to pull people in to hear the gospel. Director Spike Lee even stopped by to take pictures of the signs and the cross.

One man, Jamiel, and his wife stopped me and Chris Galloway as we were just packing up and leaving for the night. He was drunk and told me he was fed up with the church. I asked him what church he went to. He said he was in the Catholic Church. I told him that Catholicism is a false religion because it contradicts what the Bible says. I asked him if he had a Bible. He said no. He then looked at me and said, "I feel like I am lost." I said, "The question is, 'Do you want to be found?'" He and his wife both answered saying they needed God. I gave them a Bible andsome tracts and Chris and I were able to give them a little Truth before we had to leave. At the end he embraced me and thanked me so much asking me to give him my contact information. I wrote my number and email in his new Bible. Pray that this couple gets right with the Lord.

I was able to have many other great conversations and put Bibles and One Heartbeat Away into the hands of people who were lost.

Eddie Jones, Jennifer Guererro, and I were able to counsel a professing Christian, Brett. He was down there to party. He said he lives in a Muslim country where he holds to his faith in Christ, yet he was down there getting drunk and partying. He said he was on vacation, but it did not make him less of a Christian. Eddie gave him verse after verse showing him his faith may be false because his actions were not in unity with his faith. Many times he was shaking his head, confronted with the Word of God saying, "Man, you are killing me with this." We ended by praying with him. Pray that he repents and that his faith is genuine.

One of my last conversations of the trip was on game day at the stadium. I spoke with a Jewish man, Ezekiel. He knew that his people, the Jews, had rejected their God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I was able to share some Truth with him and I showed him in Romans 1 that the gospel is for the Jew first and then the Gentile. I told him that Jesus' ministry was primarily to the Jewish people. At the end of the conversation I asked him if we could stay in touch through email. He was so excited to give me his email and told me to make sure I emailed him.

Praise the Lord for this incredible trip! Thank you all again for your prayers. God answered them.

I am leaving for Dallas on Thursday to join Bill at the NBA Allstar game. Please keep me in your prayers and pray for me as I plan to go down to Savannah for St. Patrick's Day.

WWE Raw 2010

Well Praise the Lord! Ben joined me Sunday night as we ventured to Atlanta for WWE Raw 2010. The line was the longest I have ever seen it at Philip's. It stretched down several blocks and stayed idle for over two hours. I think the reason is because they did not open the doors very early like they normally do. I was glad because I got to preach the gospel to many as they stood in line. There were lots of hecklers and lots who wanted to stand next to me laughing and mocking and getting their picture taken with the preacher. I just ignored them and kept proclaiming the Truth. It is funny because I asked Ben when we got there what sign I should bring. The Holy Spirit must have intervened because I did not even notice until we were out there over an hour that I had brought my sign with Psalm 11:5 printed in large letters. What an appropriate message for those going into a wrestling event.

One guy wanted to know if I was protesting the event. I assured him that I attend many events at Philip's Arena. Another guy who had heard the preaching for at least an hour came out of line to get one of my tracts. I asked him if he likes to read. He said he did so I gave him a copy of One Heartbeat Away. That was a divine appointment because he must have seen many people mocking me and he heard what I was preaching, yet he still came up to me wanting one of my cards. Praise the Lord!

Please pray for another divine appointement that God has set up for me. Recently I went and held a sign in front of 12 Stone Church on Hwy 20 near Buford. They are doing some wicked things there so I was compelled to go preach and hold my sign while people were arriving and leaving Sunday morning. I got an email from the owner of Books for Less the local bookstore on Hwy 20 near the church. He said he had seen me at the courthouse previously and appreciated my zeal, but had recently seen me at his church and wanted to know why I would protest there. He then went on to say how many people were buying Bibles from his store as a result of that church. I wrote him a short reply just explaining that the end does not justify the means. Anyway, we are supposed to meet when I get back from Miami so pray that he will be receptive to the Truth of God's Word and that men who love Christ cannot be friends with this world. Friendship with this world is enmity with Christ.

The new school campaign is going wonderful. Please pray for me and my faithfulness in going to schools daily with the new sign. I can already see the long term implications.

We leave in less than two days for Miami. Please pray for us and that the name of Jesus is exalted! God is good!

Christ Is Everything

Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ. Philippians 3:8

There really is nothing left to say for the Christian. Christ is everything and nothing else matters. I love the pictures we are given from Scripture of every creature constantly praising Him, everything in nature praising Him, and one day everyone of His redeemed praising Him. How I long for that day. There is nothing I want more. There is nothing keeping me here except for Him. And I will accomplish what He wants and I will go home to Him.

God has been so gracious to me. He has given me so much. He has provided. He continues to bless and provide. And He continues to surprise me with new blessings. I wonder about the blessings He has for me this week. Maybe I will be persecuted for His glory. Maybe He will be gracious and bless me in some other way. All I know is that whatever circumstances He brings to me, it is His gift to me and I receive it gladly hoping that it will cause me to long for Him more.

I had an incredible opportunity this past Saturday as I went and met with a lady, Barbara, her daughter, Candace (who is a professing Christian), and Candace's boyfriend, Joe (who is Catholic). It is interesting how this meeting was set up. You may remember that I witnessed to Barbara a while back at the courthouse. She approached me because she did not like my sign declaring God's hatred for wickedness. She has been coming off and on to my church on Wednesday nights. She is a professing Christian, but living in an immoral relationship. She is not ready to repent, but I can tell that God is working in her heart. It is interesting that she is in this sinful lifestyle yet she is concerned about her daughter dating a Catholic. She wanted me to meet with them and talk about the heresy I have seen in Catholicism. She picked me up on Saturday and we drove up to Athens. We met with them for probably over three hours. I got to share a lot of Truth with all three of them.

Unfortunately, Joe is trusting more in the church to tell him what is Biblical rather than trusting the Word of God and His Holy Spirit. He was even so bold as to say that if the Catholic church came out with a heretical teaching like denying Christ's deity, he would no longer believe in God. He said he is trusting that God protects the integrity of the church and this belief is so strong that if the church were to fall then so would his faith. I could not believe what he was saying. Especially considering all of the heresies that the Catholic church is teaching like Mary's sinlessness, and faith mixed with works. It just shows how blind men really are. The Word of God is so clear and yet men supress the Truth in unrighteousness. He wanted to conclude the meeting by saying that we basically believed the same things. He wanted to send me some links to some Catholic apologetics. I told him no thanks. He asked how I expected him to read what I gave him if I would not look at what he has. I told him that I was not there to learn anymore about the Catholic teaching. I had looked at it enough to see it as wrong and I assured him that we believed different things and what he was believing had severe implications. He was a little surprised at my boldness, but the meeting still ended well. It is amazing how bold you can be when you found evangelistic relationships on the gospel. The gospel is the center and if people reject you because of the gospel then let them reject you. We are not to be friends with the world except that we are constantly seeking to win them to Christ.

I also had another great encounter with an eight-year old. I was teaching at a school and got to talk to one of my students. He said he goes to church. I asked him if he believed in God. He said yes that he got baptized. I asked him what that meant. He began to talk to me about conversations he has with his mom and other people at the church about the Trinity. He said he could not understand how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit could all be one, and this was from an eight-year old.

I shared with him from John 1 explaining to him that Jesus is God's Word made flesh. I think too many times we use illustrations to make our points, but why didn't God use the perfect illustration to explain the Trinity? I would rather stick with Scripture and explain the Trinity the way the Bible does. I wrote the verses out for him on a note and he was excited to put it in his book bag. He then seemed very interested in what church I went to. Praise the Lord. I hope this young man looks at the Word of God is changed forever just like I was in college.

I am so fortunate to have Christ with me at all times. May He be with us as we reach out to thousands at the SuperBowl next week. We need your prayers.

Winter Jam 2010

the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us 1 John 1:2

I have been memorizing the book of 1 John. It is amazing what God shows you when you hide His Word in your heart. I had never noticed before that this passage says the "eternal life" that they proclaimed was "made manifest" to them. I know it seems elementary, but I had never noticed that before. The eternal life they proclaimed was Jesus. Jesus is the eternal life.

You may have heard it said that many people want to go to heaven, they just don't want Jesus to be there. But Jesus is heaven. The question is not, "Heaven or Hell?" The question is, "Jesus or Hell?" It gets right at the root of a person's being. What do people really want? Do they really want Jesus? That is the question to ask people. What do people really want in this life and in the life to come?

Well, I had a wonderful time with Scott Autry and his wife Stephanie from Fish For Christ. Ben was able to join us along with some others, Jasper Capps and his wife Tiffany, and Chad, a friend of Scott's. We gave out tracts and witnessed to people as they came out of the movie theater and restaurants in Conyers. Apparently it is public property. Praise the Lord, the police officers were even glad we were out there.

Ben and Chad got to talk to some Jehovah's Witnesses while I talked with a guy who was leaning toward Islam. Jasper and his wife talked to many people and Jasper even got a little persecution. One guy walked away in the middle of the conversation, obviously opposed to what he was saying, while another couple of girls tried to give the tract back cursing and saying they did not want to hear it. The Lord gave us great success and we were blessed to share the gospel with so many.

Jeff Suricki, Jeff Gary, Jim Coyle, and Bobby McCreery joined me at Winter Jam 2010. This is a Christian concert event. Third Day was the headline band. Some might think it weird that we went to share the gospel at a Christain event, but there were some we got to talk to who were definitely not saved.

Jeff Gary and I talked to a group of teenagers who said they were not sure what would happen to them if they died. They said you cannot know for sure. Jeff took them through the law, shared the gospel with them, and we assured them they could know for sure based on the promise in 1 John.

One guy came up to me and said my tract, "God Loves God Hates" was unbiblical. He was there saying this to me in front of his wife and two daughters. I asked what part. He said the part where it says God's hatred is poured out on people in hell. He tried to convince me that God loves people in hell. I told him he would have a hard time convincing people in hell that God loves them. Try telling a person that God loves him when his flesh is on fire forever, in utter darkness and misery while he is wailing and gnashing his teeth. I told him that once a person rejects Christ and enters eternity, God's love has ceased and if God did not spare any of His wrath from His Son, He certainly will not spare any wrath from the unrepentant sinner who has spit in the face of God's sacrifice. He said we would have to agree to disagree and walked away. The problem is that he is disagreeing with God.

Another guy came back to me and was really excited to see my "God Loves God Hates" tract. He said he and others at his church were just talking about how they wanted something like that. I gave him some more and told him I would mail him more. Praise the Lord. Others there greatly encouraged us and one group even brought us free dinners from Moe's. God is good to those who faithfully serve Him. I cannot thank Him enough for all of the prayers He is answering.

The SuperBowl is upon us. Please pray for us as we prepare for this exciting mission trip.

One last thing I wanted to mention. For a while now I have had a burden to reach out to middle school and high school students, but was not sure what to do so I was not doing anything. God has burdened me more and more and He helped me realize that I should be doing what I do best, street evangelism. Since I cannot go into the schools, I am planning a schedule to visit middle schools and high schools daily as the students dismiss in the afternoon. I will be holding a sign with Scripture and the new website and preaching. My hopes is that by faithfully consistently going to schools, the students will become familiar with me, visit the site and hear the Truth. The Hour Is Coming

They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. John 16:2

Well this may not be happening right now, at least not in America, but we may be closer than you think after you hear what happened this past weekend in Miami.

Bill and I went down to the camp where we will be staying for the SuperBowl Outreach to finalize plans. Justin Harris and Wes Tyler joined us to do some evangelism on one of the days.

The night that Wes and Justin came in we decided to go around the camp and witness to some of the youth who were wandering around the grounds. There were many out there because there was a youth camp going on.

We first talked to the youth pastor who seemed very Rob Bellish. He had the hip look and was teaching the youth some Bible study they had themed around the hit TV show 'Lost.' I guess the Christian bookstore was all out of the 'Andy Griffith' Bible study (there really is such a thing).

He really seemed like a nice guy, just misled by all the relationship evangelism and results driven teaching. He later told us that 6 kids had 'accepted' Christ.

We hung out and as the kids walked passed us in the parking lot we decided to hand out a few tracts and talk to them. We were doing this no more than 15 minutes when the youth pastor came out and stopped us. He said he really appreciated what we were trying to do, but wanted us to stop sharing the gospel with them. He did not want us giving them tracts. He did not want us talking to them. I was stunned. He tried to use the excuse that we were strangers. He also said we were distracting them from what they had been teaching them. We told them we were just sharing the gospel with them so it should be the same things they were teaching. I tried to share with him Philipians 1, that he should be rejoicing because we were sharing the gospel with the kids, but he ignored me.

It is not like this guy thought we were Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses either. We talked with him thoroughly on our methods of evangelism. We told him we liked Kirk Cameron's Ministry, The Way of the Master. He was familiar with them and of course asked us, "What kind of results do you get using that method?"

The night ended with them threatening to call the police on us if we did not stop. One of the guys even told us that it was private property and we should not be doing that. Unbelievable! I am still in shock, but I guess I should not be by now. The hour is coming. And why do they do this?

Because they do not know the Father or Jesus Christ.

Apart from this we had great opportunities to share the gospel at the Orange Bowl and other sporting events in Miami.

Also, please pray for Hunter. He was a youth at the camp. I was able to share the full gospel with him including hell and repentance. He knew nothing and this was one of the guys that the youth pastor boasted about sharing the gospel with. Apparently he is in a gang. Pray for him that he repents and is born again.

Lord, take me home, but until then send me many souls to bring with me.

New Year's Eve 2009

And he said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Luke 10:2

I am thankful for those laborers who were able to come out and share the gospel with the multitudes that were on the streets. Thanks to Jeff S., John B., Bill A., Bobby M., Franklin J., Chap W., Scott A., Stephanie A., Chris G., Eddie J., Saki A., and the many others who were not with us, but were obedient to the great commission.

It really was a fruitful evening. There were so many out there who needed the gospel and we were able to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ and HIm crucified to many. You can see one video here. It really shows how energetic the crowd and atmosphere was.

So many people stopped to talk to us and ask us why we were there. We got to share with them that we were there because we loved them and did not want them to perish. Many people also took our tracts.

Praise the Lord for this incredible night where the world gathers the people so we can preach to them.

Who Are You Imitating?

I urge you, then, be imitators of me. 1 Corinthians 4:16

Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. Ephesians 5:1

And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit

1 Thessalonians 1:6

For you, brothers, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea. For you suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they did from the Jews 1 Thessalonians 2:14

so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:12

Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.

Hebrews 13:7

From the above verses it is clear that we are supposed to be imitators of Christ (God). We are also supposed to be imitators of those rooted in the word doing the work of God. Hebrews 6:12 warns us not to be sluggish, but to imitate those who inherit the promises.

Hebrews13:7 tells the believers to imitate those who delivered the word to them. Isn't that amazing? Strong believers in the Lord proclaimed the Word to lost people and then those lost people who received the Word are told to imitate the very ones who preached to them.

Paul was an incredible missionary and twice above he says to imitate him.

The question I asked last week is, "What are you doing with your time?"

The question I will ask this week is, "Who are you imitating?"

I can say with great confidence to be an imitator of me. Remember I have nothing to boast about. Everything that is happening in my life that people seem to admire is all a work of Christ. He is working it out of me. His Holy Spirit is bringing about Christ's fruits of righteousness.

He is the source of my life in Christ Jesus and Jesus is my wisdom, my righteousness, my sanctification, and my redemption. Therefore I cannot boast, except in the Lord.

So be an imitator of me as I am of Christ. Let us not be so entangled in this world, distracted by worldly desires, loving the world more than obeying Christ.

Again, who are you imitating? Are you imitating the world? The Bible says if we love the world then the love of the Father is not in us. This may be an easy question to answer in your mind. You may think you are imitating Jesus. But what do your works tell you? What are you doing New Year's Eve? Are you going to a party like everyone else? Are you going to just watch TV and then go to sleep like everyone else? Are you spending time with a loved one like everyone else?

There will be thousands of people out celebrating and if a bomb were to go off then most of them will end up in hell. Not only that, but Christ commands you to be His ambassador and proclaim His gospel. You, as a Christian, are the representative He has chosen. Will you squander that? Will you waste your talent?

You may think I am trying to make you feel guilty. I am hopefully challenging you to do more. What would Paul do this New Year's Eve if he were around and knew there would be thousands of people gathered to celebrate? What would the other apostles be doing?

You might try to rationalize it and think you should get a chance to rest. You might actually be doing something that will edify you spiritually. You might think you have done your job for the week because you talked to someone at work or preached on Sunday morning.

But what would a strong man or woman of God do knowing that there is such a great opportunity to represent Jesus? You can pray or read John MacArthur any other time. You can rest another time. You can be with a loved one another time, or you could even do something radical and bring your loved ones out with you. Allow me to answer what we should all be doing. We should be out proclaiming the gospel to all of creation. I will be out proclaiming Christ to all of creation on New Year's Eve. Imitate me. You admire me and follow my website and encourage me and pray for me. Imitate me and reach out to the lost.

You may think you are not Mark Cahill. Mark took the first step of obedience, that led to the second, that led to the third, and so on. Will you take the first, or another step of obedience that will lead you to more sanctification? Who are you imitating and how are you spending your time?

I am glad that this past Thursday night I obeyed God rather than my flesh. My flesh told me to stay home and rest because it was the day after Christmas. God told me to go to the Jingle Bash at Philips Arena. I am glad because Matthew, a Catholic, came up to me as I was reading Scripture. He was trusting in his goodness and his works and his Catholic faith to get him into heaven. When I spoke to him about his personal faith and relationship to Christ, he had a hard time separating himself from the church. He kept saying, "We as Catholics," to which I responded, "But what about you?" He thanked me for the conversation and took a tract. Pray for Matthew the Catholic.

This New Year's Eve please do something bold for the Lord Jesus Christ and let it be the first of many steps of obedience.
